My Journey

My journey became my purpose

The experiences of my childhood quietly shaped the way I lived as an adult. I grew up in an environment marked by physical, emotional and sexual abuse, alongside persistent bullying throughout school. As a child, it made perfect sense to believe the world was unsafe and that people could not be trusted. I developed coping strategies that helped me survive, even though I did not understand their long‑term impact.

Self-worth was never nurtured in my early years. I learned to work hard for acceptance, hide parts of myself and keep others happy to stay safe. Showing my authentic self felt dangerous as rejection or emotional pain were too great a risk for me. With so few healthy role models, I assumed that the way I was treated meant something was inherently wrong with me.

Sometimes the path that breaks us, is the one that leads us home.

The cracks beneath the surface

From the outside, my life looked successful. I built a career, owned a home and surrounded myself with friends. Yet internally, I felt disconnected from who I truly was. The strategies I had created as a child still ran my adult life. What had once protected me began to sabotage my entire life, relationship choices and overall well-being.

I stayed silent when I felt emotionally unsafe and remained in situations long after I should have walked away. Boundaries were almost non-existent because I had never learned that my needs mattered too. Continually abandoning myself eventually hurt more than the pain I had been trying to avoid.

Then life continued to add more challenges including divorce, health scares and bereavement. This eventually led to an alcohol dependence, a final attempt to numb the pain that I had never understood and deal with events I had no healthy ways of processing..

It was then that I reached an important crossroads, continue as I was, kill myself further mentally and physically, or finally face the pain heal and change my life.

The turning point

For the first time in my life I stopped asking, “What’s wrong with me?” and began asking, “What happened to me, and what do I need to understand compassionately and without shame?” The turning point which changed everything.

Through recovery, therapeutic study and deep personal development, I began see why I thought, felt and behaved the way I did. Psychology gave me language for experiences I had never been able to articulate and I recognised the behaviours I disliked in myself were there as they once served a purpose.

Inner‑child work allowed me meet the frightened little girl I had distanced myself from. I learned what she needed, listened to her fears and became the safe adult she had been searching for growing up. Shadow work asked me to be honest about the parts of myself I had hidden or rejected. Curiosity replaced judgement, and with awareness came choice.

I had spent years unconsciously creating my life from old beliefs, trauma and protective strategies which no longer worked. Now I had to consciously create something new. I learned how to set healthy boundaries, found my voice and began making choices based on who I wanted to become. Slowly, self‑trust replaced self‑abandonment.

We cannot change what we cannot see.

The role of spirituality

Spirituality opened another dimension in my healing alongside my psychological understanding. I explored various philosophies, teachings, and created a personal practice to deepen my intuition using meditation and living from my heart. Throughout this process I gained a deeper reflection on meaning, purpose and identity. Spirituality expanded my existence, allowing me to see beyond what happened and connect with something larger than fear and the past.

The mystical became part of my exploration too, offering ways of understanding ourselves that cannot always be reached through the rational mind alone. Over time, these strands, psychology, inner‑child work, shadow work, spirituality with conscious action began to weave together.

What I learned

I discovered that the love, safety and acceptance I had longed for could not be fully found in other people. They had to be cultivated within myself. My journey was deeply personal, I found ways to be encouraging with myself, continually challenge my thoughts and find self belief. I created a solid trust with the universe that everything would work out even if at times this was struggle. I no longer seek validation outside of myself and realise I was more powerful and courageous than I ever thought.

Why I do this work

I don’t share my story because I believe it is extraordinary. I share it because I know what it feels like to stand at a crossroads and wonder whether life can ever feel different. It know it can.

I eventually became the person I needed when I was a child. I learned that the protection, courage and love I had searched for were already within me. Today, supporting women to recognise their worth, trust themselves and create lives that honour who they truly are is one of the greatest passions of my work.

I remain committed to my own growth through ongoing learning, self-reflection and spiritual development. I believe the most effective practitioners never stop doing their own inner work.

Your past does not have to define your future.
